As Gray and Juvia battle each other against their wills, Juvia resists Invel's control enough to stab herself with a blade of water, only for Gray to impale himself with an ice sword at the same time. However, Juvia uses her water magic to transfuse her blood into Gray and save his life. Gray is anguished by Juvia's sacrifice and defeats Invel, unaware as Wendy and Carla arrive in time to nurse Juvia back to life. When Gray retains his judgment and refuses Invel's request to kill Natsu, Invel reveals Natsu's identity as E.N.D. to him in another attempt to trigger Gray's corruption. Meanwhile, Brandish tries persuading Natsu, Lucy, and Happy to abandon the battle to save them from the rest of Alvarez's forces, but is shocked when Natsu easily defeats a magically enhanced Neinhart.
