After Magnolia is evacuated in preparation of the Alvarez Empire's invasion, Ajeel launches a surprise western airstrike on the city from a unit of 50 airships. Fried Justine's jutsu-shiki barrier protects the city, allowing Bisca Moulin to fire on the unit with the guild's Jupiter cannon, but Ajeel effortlessly disperses the attack. When the dragon slayers' counterattack against Ajeel goes awry due to their motion sickness aboard his airship, Erza intercedes to battle him personally, sending the dragon slayers to battle his ground forces. Meanwhile, Spriggan 12 member Wall Eehto breaches Fried's barrier, while Lucy discovers Brandish bathing in her apartment. As Fairy Tail's other members assess the presence of three Spriggan 12 members, they detect two fleets of 300 ships each from the north and south, as well as an army of one million soldiers approaching from the east, all accompanied by three of the Spriggan 12.
